The newly renovated Chalet Alta Badia is a lovely and comfortable property in San Cassiano (1537 meters/5043 ft. above sea level). San Cassiano is a small, Ladin speaking town with the charm of a typical Dolomite mountain village with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The pedestrian area is full of restaurants and shops and is perfect for relaxing after a day on the hiking paths or ski slopes.

Walks along the Armentarola valley, or cross country skiing in the winter, with its Alta Badia cross country skiing centre, provide breath-taking views of the spectacular sunsets which tinge the Dolomites with pink.

The Val Badia is a center of the Ladin culture and is virtually totaly tri lingual; Ladin, Italian and German. The cultural enviornment is most unique and a joy to experience, offering up some of the best qualities of mountain, Italian and Teutonic cultural. Among the areas main activities are: the larch forest trail, the Klaus and Dorothea von der Flühe meditation walk, the First World War in the Dolomites sites at Mount Lagazuoi and Mount Störes, the "Trù liösa Foram" sledging slope from Piz Sorega to San Cassiano, the Alta Badia - Armentarola cross country skiing center, and, of course, eating, as is witnessed by the unbelievable amount of great restaurants in the area. There are over 16 michelin stars in the area, one of the highest concentrations in the world.

The Chalet Alta Badia is an old farmhouse dating to the late nineteenth century that has always belonged to the same family and it was one of the first houses in the village of San Cassiano, a little gem of Alta Badia, surrounded by the enchanting Dolomites. The Villa "speaks" the language of the territory, this is not only due to the family’s name of Ladin origin but for its architecture, which is reminiscent of the most popular traditional architectural style of the valley.

The restoration was conducted in full respect of the villa’s original style and was completed in 2012. The work was assigned to professionals and workers with a deep knowledge of Ladina architecture.

Chalet Alta Badia offers to its guests all comforts and modern facilities as a perfet home away from home retreat in the Italian Alps, always in perfect harmony with the typical family warmth of the farm. the villa features a selection of hand picked materials: such as larch wood from old barns used for the exterior, brushed and waxed pine together with "Luserna" and "Piasentina" stone for the interior, and vintage planed oak for floors. With the same care the fabrics were selected for fthe urniture, from Loden to raw silk, from cotton to linen. A careful attention to the environmental impact has been also considered, from structural characteristics which optimize energy consumption and ensure maximum energy savings, to the overall aesthetics of the Villa, which is harmoniously blending into Dolomites landscape.
