Florence Apartments Apartment 10
A beyond beautiful restoration has created this grand 5 bedroom/6 bath apartment that we call Firenze Due Penthouse. Firenze Due is one of the historical Florentine palazzos and is truly one of the most stunning residences in Florence...It is in a superb location right in the heart of Florence, just a few steps from Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. It is right in the the center, yet it seems to be in a quiet world of its own...It is on a lovely side street with many local restaurants and bars. It is only 100 meters to Ponte Vecchio and 600 meters to the Duomo on a pedestrian street. It is an absolute gem, centrally located with its own roof terrace enjoying views over Florence, spacious rooms throughout and inspirational contemporary furniture – what could beat this as a venue for a stay in one of the world’s most beautiful, historic cities?
Firenze Due's origins date back to the 12th Century, but its present form is mainly derived from the 17th Century renovation by the Marchese Anton Maria Bartolommei and designed by architect Ferdinando Tacca (who also designed the stunning entrance).
Inside, up on the fourth floor, is the fabulous terraced Firenze Due Penthouse which has been decorated to the highest standards in a trendy contemporary style by the internationally known interior designer Ilaria Miani. Upon arriving at the Palazzo, one immediately enters into a grand neoclassical hall with its original columns and statues. A beautiful vaulted staircase leads to the upper floors, but for the less energetic there is also a newly installed mirror lined elevator! Ilaria Miani has designed and decorated a number of gorgeous farmhouses in Southern Tuscany and Firenze Due Penthouse is her most recent creation.
For the lofty dining room on the top floor, Ilaria Miani did a radical restoration of all the superstructures, featuring partitions, false ceilings, and layers of paint to highlight the original structure made of bricks and pillars. From the sofa you have views from S.Stefano church through the blooming terrace, and on the opposite side you can see the tower of Palazzo Vecchio.
The kitchen is large and equipped with everything one could wish for, bedrooms enjoy stunning marble en suite bathrooms and every modern facility has been thought of including air conditioning and internet connection. There is also the availability of a private cook service which, after a day’s exploring on foot in Florence, provides a great excuse to relax with aperitivi on the roof terrace and soak in the magic of Florence.
5 Bedrooms/6 Bathrooms
Firenze Due Penthouse is composed of an entrance lobby, large double volume living/dining room with fireplace (French door to fully furnished terrace/roof garden), fully equipped eat-in kitchen, TV, attic kitchen storage, half bath (with toilet and basin only), laundry cupboard, storage.. There are 5 bedrooms, whose layout is as follows: • bedroom 1, master suite: king size bed, all marble bathroom, walk in shower with Turkish bath, stair to bathtub in loft, large counter, back down the stairs, door to terrace • bedroom 2, Lambertesca 1: twin beds, en suite marble bathroom, separate shower • bedroom 3, Attic, on the upper level: king size bed, en suite shower room with double stone sink • bedroom 4, Master 2 suite: king size bed, marble bathroom, wall mounted shower in the tub, stairs to private lofted sitting room with sofa/ day bed, 50” TV screen, and large counter, back down the stairs, door to terrace • bedroom 5, Lambertesca 2: king size bed, marble bathroom, stone sink, separate shower

Basic supplies are always available for free, such as olive oil from the owners estates, mineral water, balsamic vinegar, various English teas, coffee, paper napkins, toilet papper, soap, candles, etc.
Private garage is available for one car, but is problematic due to the recent laws requiring a daily permit that can only be purchased in person at the police station. Driving in the historic district is only allowed with the permit. It is easier to hire a driver/taxi to bring you to the apartment, or to pick up and dropoff your rental car when you are taking an excursion outside of the city. Parking anywhere in Florence is very limited. Florence is a walking city.
There are several car rental companies within a short taxi ride), so we suggest doing Daily car rentals if you want to explore Chianti, Siena, or Tuscany on day trips. Train station is nearby offering lots of options including Venice. two hours away. Should you opt for a rental car you must request a permit, it is 5 Euro for a daily pass (only issued for the day of) at the Police Station, allowing you entry on these streets for up to 4 hours. You don't need another pass to bring your car out. The police station is closed for two hours during lunch and on Sundays. The location is Piazza della Calza, 2, 50125 Firenze a few minutes from the (apartment) historic district. Alternatively, consider a parking garage that offers weekly rates that will include the permit in their fee.
Discounts also available for two and three week rentals.

Essenziale-Piazza di Cestello, 3, 50124 Tel. 055.2476956 http://essenziale.me/?lang=en The hottest new opening in Florence is without a doubt this restaurant headed by popular chef Simone Cipriani, formally of Santo Graal. Inside, you’ll find a contemporary, intimate atmosphere. With a small drawer at every table with your “tools” (forks, knives and spoons) to help you along what will certainly be an interesting gastronomic affair. I went with Nico for his birthday dinner and we opted for the five-course tasting menu (55€) which was absolutely phenomenal. The cuisine is inventive and creative, imagine a take on Tuscany’s classic “pappa al pomodoro” called “papa Mary” with bloody mary elements of horseradish gelato and a spritz of vodka. Also, a great Sunday brunch! Expensive

Furlin-via Giampaolo Orsini 113r 50125 Firenze Tel. +39 055 684931 http://www.fulin.it/contatti/ Here is something different fpr Florence, a Chinese restaurant, and a very very good one at that. It has even made it in Italy’s foodie magazine, Gambero Rosso. Fulin is out to make quality Chinese cuisine the way you would find in Hong Kong or Beijing, in a beautiful ambiance in a suburban (and easy to get to) neighborhood. This will no doubt impress even the Florentines. I had the chance to lunch there recently and wow, just wow. This is top notch on every level. Antipasti range around 7-8€ while larger courses 12-15€. I highly recommend sharing a variety of dim sum like dishes, especially the bamboo carrot involtini, a variety of freshly-made dumplings, rice noodles with chinese mushrooms, and cantonese pork, twice-fried with an orange sauce. Don’t skip dessert either! Moderate Prices
Irene- Tel. +39 055 27 35 891 https://www.roccofortehotels.com/hotels-and-resorts/hotel-savoy/restaurant-and-bar/irene/ Chef Fulvio Pierangelini shocked the culinary world when he shuttered his two-Michelin-star restaurant Gambero Rosso in 2009. Several years ago, after a brief hiatus from cooking, he became executive chef of Rocco Forte Hotels, and in April he opened the Irene restaurant at the regal Hotel Savoy in Florence. The Florentine bistro overlooks the vibrant Piazza della Repubblica and is named after the mother of Sir Rocco Forte, CEO of Rocco Forte Hotels. Irene was an accomplished cook and hostess, and the restaurant is a tribute to Italian mothers and grandmothers everywhere, says Pierangelini, who describes the restaurant as “mischievous, irreverent, and cheeky.” Very good food in a chic atmosphere and in good weather, a fantastic terrace on Piazza Republica, in the very heart of Florence's historic center. Expensive
